Council of Scholars
The Board of Directors for The Monument of the Immortals
is pleased
to announce the establishment of a Council
of Scholars to advise and assist
the Board on matters
of interest and importance pertaining to the
historical
record for ancient Olympic competition.
Duties
and Responsibilities
Members
of the Council of Scholars shall advise
the Board of Directors on insuring that materials
contained
therein are original, accurate, and properly
catalogued and preserved.
Members shall also assist in fundraising for future
Museum acquisitions through the identification and
solicitation of available resources.
Additionally, members shall assist the Board in identifying
candidates for the endowed Chair of the Council of
Scholars and endowed graduate-level fellowships.
The Council shall also recommend to the Board parameters
for endowed rotating lectureships and areas of concentration
for endowed scholars from among their own ranks.
Members
shall also assist the Curatorial Council in the
identification and acquisition of important
works for display at permanent, rotating, and
traveling exhibitions sponsored by the Monument.
Council Composition
and Length of Service
The
Council of Scholars shall be comprised of a minimum
of nine members serving terms of three
years each.
Appointments to the Council require the approval
of the Board of Directors and shall be made according
to the following schedule:

Members
of the Council of Scholars shall receive no
compensation for their services. Consideration for Appointment
